I Was On A Farm
Life has once again tumbled into a beautiful whirlwind of events. While I love taking in every bit of these moments, I find myself asking for more hours in the day so I can blog. But here I am this evening, back at it.
I want to share with you one very unique experience I had in the last month ... the day I spent at Everett Family Farm. In March, my friends and I hustled to get tickets to this fantastic social called Outstanding in the Field. We heard about this event a few years back from friends that are chefs. There was nothing but positive feedback regarding this gathering that reconnects dinner to the land. So, we wanted in!
On Father's Day, we drove down to Santa Cruz and basked in the sun! I was in heaven -- beautiful weather, connected to the earth, fantastic wine and the best of friends. Upon arrival, we were greeted with delicious organic white wine from Alfaro Family Vineyards and Winery. And then ... the journey with our food began. We took in a few appetizers (duck liver mousse profiteroles with radishes, scallion potato croquette, pulled pork with pickled onions) and then started our way on a tour of the farm.
It's not very often you get an inside look of a local farm and really learn where your fruits, vegetables and eggs are coming from. The numerous acres were stunning. I felt so appreciative of all the hard work that goes into producing such healthy, organic food.
The escape from the city -- which most of you know, I never leave because I love it so much! -- was such a peaceful and needed trip.
Following our tour, we walked into an open field with a stunning long table set to the nines. It was breathtaking. To top it off, we were blown away with such amazing flavor in every course we were served.
Check out our menu by the wonderful Chef Santos Majano of Soif in Santa Cruz.

Guys. I don't know to explain this. This was one of the most memorable meals I have ever had and I truly encourage you to participate in an Outstanding in the Field event as they tour the US stopping at phenomenal farms and pairing up with the best chefs.
The weather, wine and food was so spectacular but I will always remember how I laughed so hard this day and had the best time with those closest to me. Count me in for next year!
