I've been doing a lot of research lately on anti-aging home remedies. I've always been someone who is well aware of what is going in her body and on her skin. Being in the fitness and health industry for 15 years I have learned a magnitude of what is "good for you" and what is not. In all of that exploring, I let my body respond and tell me if it is worth it.
Lately, I have been looking into new skincare (here and here) and make up that is all natural. Researching online. Asking friends. This area is the slowest I have taken action with change because my skin is definitely particular and to be honest, while I don't wear a ton of makeup it makes me feel good and I feel a bit more secure knowing I have rosy cheeks. However, I am tired of spending so much money on product, and I want to create a skincare routine that is natural, organic and full of healthy vitamins and minerals rather than chemicals.
A Night Oil with Coconut
While I plan to try some of the above lines, I have actually been massaging coconut oil into my skin every night for the past three nights and wow, my skin is already so much better! It feels moisturized and is glowing. I really wanted that glow factor back, especially after numerous cold days in SF, stress, and being at construction sites - my skin is dry and begging for love.
According to this website (it has done its research), the "coconut oil locks the moisture in the skin and nourishes it with essential fatty acids. Its phenolic compounds contribute to its antioxidant activity and give you glowing skin."
A Brightening Mask with Lemon Juice
In addition, I created a simple mask with 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of sugar, mixed together, and let rest on my face for 15 minutes. I immediately noticed a brightness to my skin after rinsing.

What is so great about these remedies -- I had every ingredient in my pantry (free!) and the results were immediate. I'll be continuing this regimen, trying more, and sharing my experiences.
Blueberry And Chia Anti-Aging Smoothie
As I continued my search for natural, home remedies, I also came across a smoothie recipe that has a number of anti-aging benefits because it is rich in fiber, minerals, and the vitamins A, C, E & K. It is SO GOOD. You must try!
Coconut water - 1 cup
Chia seeds - 2 tbsp
Spinach - 1 cup
Virgin coconut oil - 1 tbsp
Frozen Blueberries - 1/4 cup
Frozen banana - 1/3
Add the chia seeds, coconut water, coconut oil and spinach into a blender and blend.
Add the frozen banana and blueberries. Blend.
Pour and enjoy!
