day 3 of 100 days of lettering

As I sat at my desk this morning trying out different pens and writing a variety of phrases, I took a break to check my email and came across this video. Have you seen it?

Goosebumps and tears.

There are so many ways this video tugged on my heart strings. Max and I have an age difference of six years. A number that made both of us a little hesitant but we quickly realized that love has no age

With family and friends of all genders, race, disability and religion, I see first hand that they LIVE and LOVE with SO MUCH HEART and that is all that matters. Love has no labels. LOVE IS LOVE.

And so, this very video inspired my words for DAY THREE of my lettering challenge.

love notes

Tuesday I came home to a quiet house. Frankie Cat purrrrring his hellos. I said goodbye to Max early that morning as he was off to China. It's always difficult when he is so far away but we find our ways to keep in touch and stay connected miles and hours apart.

That night I found note after note in my home. It warmed my heart. And to my surprise, they kept showing up.

Like I've always said, it's the little things. The little things make the heart flutter.

When I look back and think about my day, I realize that it was sprinkled with so much goodness.

  • I woke up next to the man I love
  • Took a walk in the sun with my best friend and business partner to grab a latte.
  • Trained some amazing clients that worked their butt off!
  • Received news that my 89 years young grandmother is recovering like a ROCKSTAR in the hospital after surgery.
  • Sailed through a productive day at a job I love
  • Went for a run.
  • Pampered myself with a mani pedi.
  • Met with a design client and gushed over some gorgeous pillows and throws.
  • Cooked a wonderful dinner and sketched out some designs.
  • Settled into bed with the cutest kitten in the world.

My heart is full of love. Full of gratitude.

the little things

On Monday, I sent my valentine a thank you message:

I am so grateful for everything you do for us. My heart is full.

We had a lovely Valentine's weekend. Nothing extravagant. In fact, Max was really sick and recovering from a nasty cold. My Valentine's surprise didn't go as planned, but I did have the opportunity to drop off a few of his favorite things

The Little Things: Kombucha // Coconut Water // Photos from Hipstamatic // The Otis Succulent from Bloom That // Almond Crossaints from Thorough Bread and Pastry // 'Happy Fucking Valentine's Day' Card from Papersource

The rest of the weekend was so relaxing. We spent our weekend in Mill Valley playing house and dog sitting Miss Betty White.

I knew that I wanted to gift Max with the Little Things that make him smile, but I soon realized that our weekend was naturally filled with beautiful "Little Things" that make us both so happy -- talks over wine, gluten free pizza, cuddling, waking up to the sun, exploring on a hike, cooking brunch, singing in the car, sharing dinner with parents, reading and blissful sleep.

As I reflected on the weekend, I was so incredibly grateful. Hence, my Monday morning note. Life is short and those you love deserve to know what they mean to you. Don't be afraid to express yourself in a way that is authentic and fills your soul.
